Where researchers make magic with lasers

Read a new article in Mladá fronta Dnes, about the collaboration of cutting-edge Czech research institutions within the interdisciplinary LasApp project. Reporter Marek Kočovský describes how HiLASE Centre lasers help in biomedicine: by creating microstructured surfaces, which prevent the formation of dangerous biofilms.

That is possible thanks to the PERLA laser system developed at HiLASE. Thanks to its record-breaking parameters and speed, it can create microstructured surfaces with special properties faster, more effectively and cheaper than any other laser system in the world.

The use of lasers in biomedicine, specifically for the prevention of biofilm formation, is one of the main focuses of the LasApp project (Breakthrough Laser Technologies for Smart Manufacturing, Space and Bio-Tech Applications). It focuses on advancing existing state-of-the-art laser technologies. It aims to explore entirely new applications with the potential for groundbreaking solutions on an international scale.
