The HiLASE Centre Laser Micromachining (LMM) team has achieved a new world record! It has been reached by applying the concept of multi beam processing at the record speed of 1909 cm2/min to create nanostructures on stainless steel.
The record was possible thanks to the use of the PERLA ultrashort high-energy pulsed laser system with exceptional beam quality. The previous record held by the Hochschule Mittweida Laser Institute, University of Applied Sciences Mittweida in Germany, was surpassed by more than 30%.
Nanostructuring can be used to create functional surfaces, for example with antibacterial or optical properties. Application is possible in a variety of areas, ranging from the creation of sterile surfaces for biomedical use, to authenticity verification using protective holograms.
You can find out more about the record in our PRESS RELEASE.
