A team of HiLASIANS from the High Energy Slab Lasers group, in collaboration with researchers from the Central Laser Facility STFC surpassed the world record set by the BIVOJ laser in 2016. A maximum output energy of 46.5 J in 10 ns pulses with a repetition rate of 10 Hz at a wavelength of 1030 nm was reached, surpassing the previous record by nearly 40%!
The BIVOJ laser system was developed at the Central Laser Facility STFC and it is a pulsed nanosecond diode-pumped solid-state laser with cryogenic cooling technology classified as a powerful kW laser.
The unique BIVOJ laser system is, among other things, available to users with Open Access, which gives users from accross the world the opportunity to gain access to the HiLASE Centre research infrastructure.
You can find out more about the record in the PRESS RELEASE.
