In collaboration with the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, the formation of highly-regular laser-induced periodic surface structures (HR-LIPSS) has been achieved on metal surfaces at record writing speed. The theory has been developed which explains, describes and predicts LIPSS regularity based on metal optical properties and irradiation conditions.
