On Wednesday the 29th of June, the HiLASE Centre welcomed a visit from Skoda Auto for a joint workshop organised by the Central Bohemian Innovation Centre.
The workshop began with a short excursion of the HiLASE Centre. The micromachining team leader and post-doctorand Petr Hauschwitz welcomed the visitors in the lobby and presented the history and current priorities of the centre to them. Then, a Ph. D. student from the Laser Shock Peening (LSP) group, Sanin Zulic, prepared a tour of the LSP experimental hall and shared more information about his specialisation during a presentation on the topic. A presentation by the InnoTeam of Skoda Auto followed.
A short break for refreshments and discussion was followed by several presentations of technologies developed by the Institute of Physics of the CAS (of which the HiLASE Centre is a part). The topics covered, as chosen by the visitors from Skoda Auto, were:
- Alloys with shape memory (presented by Ing. Luděk Heller, Ph.D.),
- Plasma technologies for the preparation of thin film catalysts (introduced by Mgr. Martin Čada, Ph.D.),
- The development of batteries (covered by Ing. Jiří Červenka, Ph.D.),
- 3D printing and headlight quality analysis (spoken about by Ing. Tomáš Jetmar).
At the end of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to take part in a short excursion to the neighbouring laser centre, ELI Beamlines.
The event has shown to be very fruitful for both the Institute of Physics and Skoda Auto. We look forward to any future collaborations!
