The October term of the Laser Safety Officer training within the HiLASE Laser & Safety Training Centre (LSTC) was successfully concluded. Participants learned how to calculate the maximum permissible laser exposure values, how to select the appropriate laser safety goggles or how to avoid the most common laser accidents.
They were trained by a team of experts in laser technology and laser safety:
- Helena Vohníková, the HiLASE Laser Safety Officer, introduced the topic of laser safety: from the effects of laser radiation on humans to technical and administrative measures.
- Jiří Mužík, Team Leader of Thin Disk Lasers, introduced the basics of lasers and fibre optics and guided the participants through the laser laboratories.
- Ondřej Denk, Optical engineer specialising in High Energy Slab Lasers, taught the candidates how to set up a laser beam during a practical exercise.
- Petr Navrátil, Senior researcher in High Energy Slab Lasers, explained basic calculations necessary for any LSO.
- Jan Šmaus, Laser Shock Peening technologist, provided an introduction into one of our Industrial Laser Applications during a tour of the experimental hall.
Since all participants easily passed the final test, which verified their newly acquired knowledge, they received a certificate of successful participation in the training.
