On Wednesday the 25th of September, the very first Laser Maintenance course by Laser & Safety Training Centre took place at HiLASE. The participants learned the necessary skills in setting up, measuring and cleaning laser systems, as well as discussing concrete examples and issues from their institutions with the trainers.
The beginning of the course focused on laser safety with HiLASE LSO, Helena Vohníková. The participants learned the basics of safely working with a laser system, which they would need throughout the remainder of the course and apply what they learned in their organisations. Next, led by Jan Kaufman (team leader of Laser Shock Peening), they went through the basics of laser system set-up and tried to install an optical telescope to increase the diameter of the beam. The next part of the course was led by senior researcher and high energy slab laser specialist, Jan Pilař, who explained basic parameters of the beam. On the systems they set up, participants measured beam diameter and collimation, or radiation spectrum. Lastly, under the supervision of business development manager Martina Řeháková, they learned to clean optical components, such as the mirrors they were using in the previous parts of the course.
Laser & Safety Training Centre uses the high-tech environment of the HiLASE laser Centre to share practical experience and knowledge in the areas of lasers and laser safety. Its courses are designed by laser professional to teach laser workers how to solve specific tasks in practice. View the courses we offer and sign up for the next one!
