Thank you to a delegation of Japanese research and industry experts, who we welcomed at the HiLASE Centre on Friday the 15th of November 2024. Their visit was organised by the Vakuum company, the group visited several Czech cutting-edge research and industrial institutions.
The delegates met with Jan Brajer, head of Industrial Laser Applications, and Japanese members of the international HiLASIAN team: Yuya Koshiba (post-doc) and Kohei Hashimoto (research assistant in Commercial laser development).
Since the visitors were experts mainly in vacuum physics, accelerators, and mass spectrometry, the discussion focused mainly on these fields and their connection with laser physics and applications. The activities and strategic direction of the Centre were discussed with reference to the expertise of the delegates, as presented by the head of the delegation, Professor Kazuhiko Mase (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization).
This was followed by a tour of the experimental halls for Laser Shock Peening technology, where Jan Šmaus (LSP specialist) and Lucie Ferstová (LSP laboratory assistant) showed the delegation examples of the use of this technology in a number of industries, from transport to energy. The group concluded their visit with a discussion on the possibilities of Czech-Japanese scientific and commercial cooperation in the field of laser technology.
