On Thursday the 19th of August, Ondrej Sevcik (editor of Czech Radio) talked with our colleagues Petr Hauschwitz (head of the Laser Micromachining team) and Martin Smrz (head of the Advanced Laser Development Department) not only about the new record in laser machining.
With laser micromachining, it is possible to create micro and nanostructures that give the surface, for example, water-repellent or antibacterial properties. At the HiLASE Centre, we have managed to use a record 40,401 beams at once, which has significantly accelerated the entire process and we are, once again, one step closer to using this method in mainstream industrial production. The technology can be applied to special alloys for medical stents, to nanofilters for clothing microfibres or microplastics, and in many other areas.
