The HiLASE Laser Centre offers talented university students the opportunity for paid student internships, during which they will work on the topic of their bachelor’s, diploma or rigorous thesis.
How does it work?
Choose your bachelor’s or master’s thesis topic with us and apply online at joinus@hilase.cz. Your application will be assessed by our team of researchers. If you are selected, you will become a member of our team and gain invaluable experience working with a team of local and international collaborators. Most often we employ students and graduates of Faculty of Nuclear Sciences & Physical Engineering, FBMI CTU, Faculty of Electrical Engineering CTU, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering CTU, Faculty of Mathematics and Physic – Charles University, FEI VSB-TUO Ostrava. However, we are happy to meet candidates from other technical fields and universities as well.
Why the HiLASE Centre?
The HiLASE Centre cooperates with the world’s most prestigious research institutes to develop cutting-edge laser systems (e.g. STFC RAL UK, MIT USA, DESY DE, etc.). Our “floor” is diode-pumped solid-state lasers with high average power and high energy in pulse or high repetition rate. You would not find lasers with such parameters in any lab in the world yet. We’re developing lasers for real-world applications – lasers that will make a superfast chip for a supercomputer, drill precise micro-holes in the components of modern engines, make nanomaterials, help build safer airplanes, diagnose and treat diseases, etc. In HiLASE you can choose your focus, design a laser from first calculation to application deployment, invent a useful application and test it in collaboration with experts in the field, or solve experimenters’ problems by designing a new physical model of interactions. Both the skilled experimenter and the skilled theorist will find their place in the HiLASE Centre.
