On the 4th and 5th of March, the final review meeting of HiLASE Centre of Excellence and the Widening Projects workshop took place at the HiLASE Centre.
On the first day, after the welcome word, the individual work packages and their results were presented. HiLASIANS Tomáš Mocek, Lukáš Masopust, Marie Thunová, Sanin Zulić, Jan Brajer, Martin Divoký, and Jakub Horáček summarised how the CoE project aided in developing the HiLASE research infrastructure. The team of reviewers consisting of Philippe Bambade, Stéphane David, Federica Roffi and Agne Dobranskyte-Niskota then reviewed the presentations and the meeting was closed with an informal dinner at the local brewery Olivův pivovar.
On the second day, the Widening Projects workshop took place, joined by representatives of the Institute of Physics and ELI Beamlines. After a welcome by Tomáš Mocek (head of HiLASE Centre) Stefan Weiers (Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission) focused on the importance of sustainability. A presentation by Federica Roffi and Agne Dobranskyte-Niskota followed, introducing the perspective of the European Research Executive Agency. The rest of the morning revolved around experience gained during three substantial projects: HiLASE Centre of Excellence (Tomáš Mocek, Lukáš Masopust), ASCIMAT (Martin Nikl) and CETE-P (Petr Urban).
The workshop was concluded with a discussion, lunch and a visit to the HiLASE Centre laboratories. We thank all the speakers, as well as attendees, and look forward to further collaboration!
