Education at HiLASE Centre doesn’t just include trainings for clients – we are also learning from one another. This week, it was within the internal Comsol conference, where HiLASIANS Tomáš Tichý (Designer – Simulation Engineer) and Ondřej Slezák (Team Leader of Laser Modelling) introduced their colleagues to mathematical modelling using the finite element method.
They shared examples of simulations which facilitated the production of parts supplied by the design team of the Engineering and Technical Support (ETS) department. They also presented cases of the use of models for scientific outputs, such as the utilization of thermo-optical calculations to develop and optimise complex laser systems. Thanks to examples from different areas, all HiLASIANS, across teams, took something new away from the conference.
“I’m glad we could share this solution to scientific problems among more of our colleagues,“ says Tomáš Tichý. “Researchers come to us with ideas and we help them find new, uncharted paths, so that we can support them in their work. We optimise resources and time, try varying scenarios and reach the most effective possible solution.“
