Are you a PhD student? Start a company. An initiative of scientists and companies from the Czech Republic and Lithuania wants to give lasers to industry and launch new startups into the world e15

Read about the kick-off of the new ambitious LASER-PRO project on the e15 news website. In it, editor Martin Filip describes the journey of Czech lasers from their beginnings in 1964 to the new initiative led by the HiLASE Centre, which brings together 18 leading research institutions from the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Ukraine.

“The six million euros for the LASER-PRO project led by the Czech laser centre HiLASE should, among other things, initiate new Czech start-ups in the field of laser technology. A project has started in Dolní Břežany, which, thanks to inspiration from Vilnius, wants to bring lasers to industry and create a European laser centre of excellence with facilities in Central Bohemia and Lithuania. It will also contribute to the development of laser technology in Ukraine,” Filip writes.

The LASER-PRO project connects academia with business, offering researchers not only technical support but also the business skills needed to commercialise their innovations. The aim is to support the development of new technologies that can have a significant impact on industry and contribute to global technological progress.

In addition to the LASER-PRO project itself, the article also focuses on the ESTER laser system, which the HiLASE Centre has developed in cooperation with Crytur, or the potential for further development of Czech 3D printing.
