On the occasion of Researchers’ Night, we traditionally organise an open day at the HiLASE Centre – and this year will be no exception. You can look forward to a lecture by Jan Kaufman on the topic of Transformation of planet Earth, guided tours of the experimental halls, physics experiments and many other interesting activities. Both the youngest visitors and experienced scientists will find something to do.
The overall theme for this year’s Researchers’ Night is Transformation – from evolution in nature to evolution in technology.

LECTURE | Transformations of Planet Earth – Jan Kaufman | 17:30 – 18:30 | Where in the universe did the basic building blocks of everything around us come from? How did planet Earth form from a cloud of dust into the planet we know today? What did the first continents look like? Where did the first life originate and what led to the fall of the dinosaurs? Where do oil and diamonds come from today? What will happen to us millions of years from now? These and other questions will be answered in this year’s “Metamorphosis” lecture to mark Researchers’ Night 2024.
GUIDED TOURS | Jan Šmaus | 19:00, 20:00, 21:00 (eng) | Take a look at the places that are closed to the public during the year! During a guided tour (suitable for visitors over 12 years old) you will learn what Laser Shock Peening (LSP) technology is used for and what a laser scientist’s working day is like.
Please book your spot for the lecture and guided tours in advance. Booking will be available on the Researchers’ Night website from the 1st of September 2024.
