On Friday the 1st of April 2022, the HiLASE Centre was visited by a group from QEST Automation, a company developing software, mobile and web applications, headed by former HiLASian Jitka Černohorská.
HiLASian Jan Cvrček first introduced the group to the activities and research taking place at the laser centre. The lecture was followed by a visit to the LSP experimental hall and the optical workshop. The excursion was then concluded with a visit to the clean labs where the BIVOJ and PERLA lasers are developed.
The BIVOJ laser that the group was able to see is a pulsed nanosecond diode-pumped solid-state laser using cryogenic cooling technology. It holds multiple world records in its category.
The PERLA laser system, also developed as the commercially available PERLA 100, operates on the basis of thin disc technology and has several different industrial applications. It is suitable for applications such as laser micromachining, material processing, analytical spectroscopy and damage threshold testing.
