It’s here: the LASAR student team has done it, and the Lasarsat satellite will soon go into orbit on a Falcon 9 (SpaceX) rocket! At the HiLASE Centre, we have prepared a special programme to mark the occasion, during which we will be presenting the journey of the satellite to you. You can look forward to stories about how rocket launches and satellite launches are carried out, interesting talks, and accompanying activities for little scientists!
WHEN: Friday 21 December 2024, 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
WHERE: HiLASE Centre, Dolní Břežany
Lasarsat is the product of a unique collaboration between the LASAR student team and leading Czech research and industrial organisations, including the HiLASE Centre. Among other things, we have equipped the satellite with a parabolic mirror to which we will later aim the laser beam of the BIVOJ system. You will learn more about this unique part of the satellite at the event. Once it is launched into orbit, the satellite will test the concept of a solution for removing non-functioning satellites from the Earth’s orbit – using a laser.
